US President Donald Trump has purchased shares in SpaceX worth between $15,000 and $50,000, according to a recent financial disclosure, thus becoming the owner of a financial stake in one of the most prominent companies contracted with the US government.

The disclosure showed that the purchase was made on June 23, as part of more than 1,000 stock transactions Trump executed that month. The disclosure did not reveal the exact value of the investment, as government models rely on estimated asset values.

The investment adds a new financial link between Trump and Elon Musk's SpaceX, at a time when the US administration is making decisions that could directly affect the company's business, particularly in the commercial space launch sector.

A White House spokesman said that independent third-party financial institutions manage Trump's portfolio, stressing that the president and his family members have no authority to direct investments or influence the timing of purchases and sales.

The deal is particularly important after Trump recently directed his administration to work on significantly increasing the number of commercial space launches in the United States, a sector clearly dominated by SpaceX.

It also comes after SpaceX's massive initial public offering in June, which gave the company a valuation of about $1.77 trillion, making it one of the largest companies listed on the US market.

Thus, Trump’s investment highlights the overlap between financial interests and government decisions related to the space sector, even as the administration insists that its portfolio is managed independently.
